Careers Service Supporters Club

The Careers Service Supporters Club was founded over 20 years ago and now consists of around 120 members representing organisations mainly in finance, law, manufacturing, engineering and management consultancy. They all make a voluntary financial contribution to the running of the Careers Service, and we use this income to benefit all our students, not just those contemplating a career in their sectors.

Examples of these additional activities for students include the Public Interest bursary scheme, publishing the 80 page CV book, and paying the staff costs for additional careers adviser support, to work on podcasting and arranging our careers events. Members also deliver the skills training sessions which we host through the Careers Service, bringing the latest expertise and know-how across a number of key skills.

Without this support our Service would not be so broad and comprehensive. In addition to the income, they also give us regular feedback, advice and information to help shape our own direction to ensure our students get the best chance in securing employment after Cambridge.

In return for their donation they attend annual meetings, can send their new staff to our ‘New Recruiters’ training day, receive priority booking for attending our careers events, and receive information on where our students go after Cambridge; and we regularly conduct adhoc surveys and benchmarking activities for them.

Our partnership with these organisations, however, is kept totally impartial and independent. We adhere closely to all data protection policies. We do not, for example, harvest students’ CVs to distribute or sell to members, nor do we recommend individual students to specific members, nor do we recommend that students apply only to members of the club.
