Finding a venue for your visit

The Careers Service does not have rooms for recruiters to rent, so organisations must book their own venue

  • The official University free venue-finding service 'Meet Cambridge' can link you with colleges, other University venues as well as some Hotels.
  • For private dinners, bars/restaurants try our venue listings - or ask recent hires where is popular.

Things to consider before you decide on a venue:

Lunchtime presentations / drop-in sessions / breakfast sessions -
  • offer food as students may well have given up the opportunity to eat in order to meet you.
  • look at venues close to your target faculty / department (see University map)
  • if your target disciplines are in more than one location, consider having two visits - e.g. a lunchtime near the Engineering Department, and an afternoon drop-in on the West Cambridge site for Computer Scientists, Physicists and Mathematicians, thus taking a few representatives to the audience.
Evening visits -
  • students may well have returned to their colleges, so any central Cambridge location is likely to be suitable.

  • Some colleges and hotels are not in the middle of Cambridge so check the University map.

Interviews - the University appreciates recruiters not taking students to London for first round interviews. 'Meet Cambridge' can assist employers to find smaller rooms.

Protests- if you think your organisation might attract protests we suggest you select a University building such as the Pitt Building, or a college. Please advise them at point of booking.

Once you have reserved a venue for the date/time we have confirmed:

We will send you a template to complete - it is your responsibility to add: promotional text; start and finish times; your venue (please add the room within a venue in the free text field); sign-up email address if you wish to run a sign-up. We will send this template during the summer and suggest you complete it before the term web diary goes live in mid-September. It can be updated anytime via the URL.
