Health Sector Homepage

Health is a key sector of the economy, affecting us all and employing around 2 million people. A key document to help understand this sector is the Health Sector Briefing document from the Prospects website.

Almost all medicine graduates proceed into medical careers and are offered full support, information and advice through their department, the NHS and professional bodies. Occasionally a medic will use the Careers Service if looking to move away from front line medicine and into the commercial, research, finance or consultancy sectors. A variety of employers serving the medical and health sectors value applications from medics.

The Health Care Occupational Files in the Careers Service library also contain many useful resources.

Read the vacation work feedback of previous students to generate ideas of how you might get more experience of the Health & Social Care sector.
