Anglo Saxon, Norse and Celtic Tripos and your career

The Department of Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic, in consultation with Colleges, has identified the ways in which undergraduates can acquire and develop certain skills and attributes ('transferable skills') throughout their University career. These skills can be used beyond studentsí university careers and are highly valued by employers. Thinking about and understanding the skills or competencies you have developed from your Cambridge Degree is a crucial aspect to career planning. You will find useful information via the Cambridge University Skills Portal.

Graduates in Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic obtain jobs in a wide variety of professions. Profiles covering some of the most popular areas can be found on the Prospects website:

Graduates further down their career path can be contacted informally using GradLink, giving you the opportunity to learn from individuals who have already taken the steps you might be planning. On the ASNC website you will find some "Life after ASNC" graduate profiles.

Current GradLinks on our system with Anglo Saxon, Norse and Celtic Degrees have been, or are currently, working as an Occupational Therapist, Primary School Teacher, Communications Manager for the Royal Shakespeare Company, Press and Marketing Officer and an Analyst at Accenture. These are but a few examples of the career directions you could consider.

Each year the Careers Service surveys all graduating students to find out what they are doing six months after graduation. The results of this survey, for each degree subject, can be viewed on the Unistats site.
