Where and how to look for roles open to Theology and Religious Studies Graduates

There are some roles where a degree in TRS is essential combined with further study. The most directly related job is a Minister of Religion who teaches the religious beliefs specific to the faith, ministering to the spiritual and social needs of people in the local community. Information is usually available through the minister of your church or religious organisation.

Unless you are staying within academia or want a career in a religious context, and possibly not even then, you are unlikely to find vacancies that specify a Theology and Religious Studies degree. Other career directions where a TRS degree is required include:

  • Secondary School Teaching
  • Higher Education Lecturer
  • Adult Education Lecturer/tutor

Whilst other careers may not state a TRS degree as an essential criteria the skills and understanding developed in this degree may be useful in careers such as International Aid/Development, Social Work, Charities, Media, Politics, Think Tanks and NGO's and many other.
