Handshake Update, July 2026

Our careers platform – Handshake - moved to to a new Global version on 4th July 2026. 

We are aware of some problems with accessing the site for alumni and postdocs.

Alumni, please use this link to access Handshake: https://app.joinhandshake.com  If you can't see Cambridge events and appointments on Handshake, select the 'School Connections' option in your Profile and choose Cambridge University. 

 If you have any problems accessing your Handshake account please email enquiries@careers.cam.ac.uk  

Here’s what will be the same:

  • You can book events and appointments as usual
  • Any events or appointments you’ve already booked will be there and will go ahead as planned
  • The Resources are being carried over as they are

There are some differences you’ll see too

  • Initially, some content may feel more generic or focused on the USA job market while the platform is tailored to Cambridge 
  • There will be fewer vacancies at first as UK and European employers get onto the new system and build back their job ads
  • The News Feed will only have US contributors until UK & European users start posting again
  • Your records aren’t being carried across, so it won’t show what events, fairs or appointments you’ve attended, jobs you’ve saved, applications you have made or posts you’ve added to the Feed
  • There’s a new section called AI Showcase that anyone using Handshake can post to videos of how they are using AI
  • You may see an advert for a “Resume Checker” – we’d advise you to stick with our partners CareerSet, unless you are applying for jobs in the USA

As the jobs board fills back up, you can continue to explore opportunities via our External Vacancy Sources page. Don’t worry – there are still lots of great jobs being advertised, and they’ll be back on Handshake soon.

The changeover should be seamless for you – when you log in, you’ll be automatically directed to handshake.com and your profile is there waiting for you, but if you do have any problems,  email us at enquiries@careers.cam.ac.uk

We've partnered with Handshake, so students, postdocs, and alumni can access the Careers Service, explore opportunities, and build your network.

With Handshake, you can:

  • Access the Careers Service anytime – book appointments, browse jobs and events, and use resources via web or mobile.
  • Upload CVs & cover letters – for Careers Consultants to review during online appointments. Make these ‘Public’ or ‘Visible’ if you want employers to see them. 
  • Get tailored recommendations – receive opportunities and information based on your subject and interests. Hint: update your career interests in your profile to get more tailored content. 
  • Network and learn – create a profile, explore industries, connect with peers, and message other users.

Registration tips:

  • Current students: Use ‘Current students & staff’ with Raven authentication.
  • Alumni: Use ‘Postdocs & alumni’ with a @cantab.ac.uk or cantab.net email.
  • Postdocs (Cambridge/UPI): Complete the registration survey for account setup.
