Help students develop their skills for the workplace by delivering an interactive skills session

Employer-led Skills Sessions are a popular way for students to gain skills needed for the workplace and their future careers.

Enable future recruits to experience first-hand what it is like to work in your industry, to develop their skills and understanding of different sectors and roles, and to apply their academic knowledge, learning and experience in a non-judgemental industry context. Participation is an excellent opportunity to transfer the skills you value through interactive group activities.

What is offered?

We offer employers from all sectors the opportunity to deliver a 60 - 90 minute session such as an interactive case study workshop, assessment centre simulation, group discussion or insight session with Q&A that focus on student development. Sessions should not be used for recruitment or promotional activities.

There are 4 suggested formats that we ask you to consider (for more details on each please consult our Guide To Successful Skills Sessions):

  1. Skills-based interactive session
  2. Industry/role insight
  3. Hot topic session
  4. Career Journey (for delivery by Cambridge alumni)

Example sessions might include:

  • Developing your personal brand
  • Mergers & acquisitions case study
  • Life as a patent attorney
  • Mastering the case study interview
  • How to build a sustainable career in the construction industry
  • How to be a successful management consultant
  • Pitching articles: how to get commissioned
  • How to build resilience for your future career
