All Cambridge students, postdocs and alumni are encouraged to use Handshake, an innovative career development platform through which you can make use of the Careers Service and develop your career and network. The Careers Service has joined this platform to make working with us easier, quicker and even more effective.
- Ease of access to University of Cambridge Careers Service – by web or by mobile, book appointments, browse job and opportunity postings, explore and register for events and workshops, access resources, check the status of applications, and more while on the go, using Handshake's responsive design.
- Upload CVs & Cover Letters - so our Careers Consultants can see them during your online appointment. Click on your initials and navigate to the 'Documents' area to do this. NOTE: You can choose to make documents public by using the 'Visible' option in the document area. You do not need to do this for our Careers Consultants to see them - so only select this option if you are happy to share these documents with employers and other users in the Handshake Community.
- Tailored recommendations – receive information based on your subject and interests from Handshake and learn about opportunities from Cambridge’s careers team.
- Interact with an online community – create a profile, network and discover new opportunities, learn more about industries and job roles to see if they are right for you; get an inside look at employers with candidate reviews; message other users with your questions.
Important: Handshake will ask you for an email account during registration. Please follow the advice below for a quick approval:
- Current students - please click on ‘Current students & staff’ in Handshake which will use your Raven authentication. If you have temporarily discontinued your course and can't access or see any appointments on Handshake please contact us.
- Alumni - please click on 'Postdocs & alumni' and use your @cantab.ac.uk or or cantab.net email address (claim this via the University Alumni site).
- Postdocs (Cambridge University and UPI) - please fill in this short registration survey and we will register you on Handshake.
